Fishing

Welcome to beautiful Ashe County where you will find some of the finest fishing in the U.S.  Ashe County streams are stocked with almost 70,000 brook, rainbow and brown trout each year.  Anglers can fish in Catch and Release, Delayed Harvest and Hatchery Supported Trout waters. To find out more about the numerous opportunities go to www.fishashe.com or download the Ashe Fishing Guide here.

The New River

The New River is one of the oldest rivers in the world.  It also is one of the few major rivers that flows north instead of south.  In 1998 the river was designated an "American Heritage River" and is known for its beautiful scenery.  Many hours of enjoyment can be found canoeing, kayaking, and camping near this beautiful river.  You can visit Ashe Chamber of Commerce for more information on lodging and boat rentals.

Golf

Jefferson Landing was designed by two-time PGA Champion Larry Nelson.  The course was rated a "Top 100 Golf Course in the Carolinas" by Golf Styles and 4 1/2 out of 5 stars from Golf Digest.

Mountain Aire is a public course that offers 18 holes nestled in the Appalachian Mountains with a challenging course no matter your skill level.

Whether you are shopping for antiques or a new painting, you can find what you are looking for in one of the many shops throughout the county.  General Stores are scattered throughout the area which gives a unique shopping experience to all who visit.
