Ashe County NC, the most northwestern county in the state, has a population of 27,500 and covers 426 square miles. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains at an approximate elevation of 3000 ft, Ashe enjoys access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, the New River, two state parks and is located 30 miles from Appalachian State University. Ashe has a diversified economy made up of a strong industrial base, small businesses, agriculture, arts and tourism. Ashe County works in a collaborative manner with various economic sectors, and also seeks entrepreneur development.
