The Animal Shelter is closed to the public on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.  We are also closed on County Holidays.

The animal control department is proud to announce we have opened a satellite office inside of the Ashe County Sheriff’s building to better serve the community.  At this location we will take complaints of rabies, nuisance, cruelty, and aggressive animals.  Our number at this location is 336-846-5924.  As this satellite office is not manned with a receptionist, if there is no answer during office hours please contact the animal shelter at 336-982-4060. Staff checks voice mail throughout the day and we will return your call. If you are making an after -hours please dial the dispatch office at 336-846-5600 and have the dispatch department contact us to assist you.  If there is an emergency please dial 911.  Animal Control Officers are only permitted to respond to calls after hours if they constitute an emergency.  All surrendered animals and adoptions must be handled at the animal shelter located at 767 Fred Pugh Road Crumpler, NC 28617.
