How do I get a gun permit?
  Gun Permits are sold Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM. 
Must have valid drivers license with the correct 911 address, and complete a application that needs to be approved.  The cost is five ($5.00) dollars per application.  One person may purchase up to three (3) permits at one time.    

How do I get a concealed handgun permit?
Attend an accredited school for concealed handgun permits.   Bring to the office the certification from firearms school, birth certificate, DD214 if you have been in the military, valid ID with current 911 address, list of all previous residences.  Applicant will then be given all other necessary forms, sent to the New River Mental Health and Ashe County Clerk of Court for records check.  (Each facility will charge a fee).  Background check will be performed.  A nonrefundable fee of $90 will be charged.  Permit expires every 5 years.
*No concealed handgun permits on Thursday due to Court.

When can I be fingerprinted?

Mondays & Tuesdays: 8:00AM - 11:15AM, 1:30PM - 4:15PM
Wednesday: 8AM - 11:15AM
Thursday: No fingerprinting due to court
Friday: 8:00AM - 11:15AM, 1:30PM - 4:15PM

What are the visitation hours for Jail?
Wednesdays
Males: 2:00PM - 4:00PM, 6:00PM - 8:00PM
Females: 1:00PM - 2:00PM, 5:30PM - 6:00PM
Sundays
Males: 1:00PM - 4:00PM
Females: 12:30PM - 1:00PM, 4:00PM - 4:30PM

Each Inmate is allowed two 15 minutes visits per day.
