The building permits were off a little this year compared to past few years.

 

Here are a few purposed codes changes for the 2009 codes.

 

·        Clothes Dryer Duct. Exhaust ducts for domestic clothes dryers shall be constructed of metal and shall have a smooth interior finish. With the exception of the transition duct, flexible ducts are prohibited.

·        Residential Garage Duct Penetration. Ducts in the garage and ducts penetrating the walls or ceiling separating the dwelling from the garage shall be constructed of a minimum no. 26 gage sheet steel or other approved material and shall have no openings into the garage.

·        Cleanouts. There must be a clean out outside the building near the point where the building sewer meets the building drain and the cleanout must be brought up to finish grade level.

·        Foundation Seal Plate. The foundation seal plate must be anchored to the foundation with ½” anchor bolts 6 foot on center and not more than 12” from the corner and a minimum of 2 bolts per plate section.

·        Under Stair Protection. Enclosed accessible space under stairs shall have walls, under stair surface and any soffits protected on the enclosed side with ½” gypsum board.

 

North Carolina interpretation on grounding CSST Gas lines is that the installer of the gas line is responsible to have it grounded; but a licensed electrician must be the person to ground the gas line.
