Administers the local election process to from candidate registration to election results, oversees and maintains local voter registration

Oversees collection, transport and disposal of solid waste and recyclables, operates the Ashe County landfill, convenience centers and the recycling program

Provides Ashe County residents with free access to: books, audiobooks, periodicals, and movies for all ages; public computers with Internet connections; computer classes; and programs for children, teenagers, and adults. Special collections include local history/genealogy, parenting, large print, and Spanish.

Provides recreational opportunities for youth and adults at County facilities through  programs such as softball and open winter gym programs

Administers a wide range of financial assistance and service programs, investigates and responds to reports of abuse, neglect and exploitation of children and disabled adults, provides in-home services to special needs individuals, manages adoptions, foster care and child/adult day care

Responsible for the listing, evaluation and assessment of all taxable property, both real and personal property along with generating annual tax liability

Responsible for generating revenue through property taxes to be used in funding local county government, bills and collects property and vehicle taxes, outstanding amounts and maintains acceptable accounting records

Responsible for identifying all real property in Ashe county and maintaining property maps

Provides assistance to veterans, their widows, orphans or survivors in obtaining or preserving existing benefits from the US Department of Veterans Affairs
